Operation Rose

Cpl. Hugo Hector ULLOA

On 03 JUNE 2001, Cecil Newcomb and I performed the Operation Rose Ceremony
for Cpl. Hugo Hector ULLOA at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.
Cpl. Ulloa had been previously wounded on his first tour, but voluntarily
returned to Vietnam for a second tour to fly as a Gunner. He was KIA on 05
June 1969 while flying with Crew Chief, Cpl. Cecil Newcomb, as the Port Side
Gunner. Cecil was wounded in that incident, as was the entire crew, but was
also awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic actions that day and the
following night.

The ceremony was attended by quite a few members of the Ulloa family: 5
sisters, one brother, several other relatives and close friends. The Ft.
Bliss Army Band was kind enough to provide a bugler to play Taps for our
departed Brother.

Below are pictures of Cpl. Ulloa and the ceremony.
