First Lieutenant Stanley Garfield Lawson 0101227/7562 USMCR was from Shelbyville, Ky. He was born on December 5, 1944. He arrived in Vietnam on September 9, 1968. He was very blond with a pink boyish face and at the time of the incident was still being referred to as "Charles Newguy" as the newest pilot in the squadron. His attempt to grow a mustache only resulted in a few stray whiskers so the attempt was abandoned. He was 25 years old at the time of his death. He died on September 21, 1968 in Quang Tri Province. He was the co-pilot of CH-46D buno 152557 which crashed on land due to hostile causes. His body was recovered. He was married.  His race is officially listed as Caucasian. His religion was Protestant. He had two year’s service at the time of his death.
